Purebred Lhasa Apso Puppies -close relative to Shi

Absolutely beautiful purebred Lhasa Apso puppies! Rare and gorgeous little babies Available now! Lhasa Apso is the parent breed to the Shih Tzu, easy to train, smart, soft. Longer snout than Shih Tzu so none of the breathing difficulties some Tzus have. These babies come from a loving, smoke free family home. Are exceptionally well socialised with children, cat and other dogs. These babies are the centre of our world while they are with us, we expose them to as many safe experiences as possible while they are with us so they go to their homes confident, social, well rounded pups. This includes car rides in the crate, water familiarisation, bathing, grooming familiarisation, interactions with many children, lots more and lots and lots of love! Lhasa’s only bark for a reason, making them exceptionally well suited to apartment or family living. They love a walk but are classed as a non sporting breed so are just as happy just to be with you and sit on your lap. Happy to provide references of owners from our previous litters. Registered micro breeder, have completed Animal Welfare Victoria and other breeders courses. Registered also with Responsible Pet Breeders of Australia. RPBA. Member 13454. Happy to answer any questions and viewing of puppies strongly encouraged. Pups which have already sold are already enjoying regular visits from their future owners. Pups come vet checked, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and with puppy pack. *Often confused for Shih Tzu, Lhasa’s are a magnificent breed and once you own a Lhasa you will never want any other breed of dog! Shih Tzu originated as a cross between a Lhasa Apso and Pekinese. These are purebred Lhasa Apso puppies, rare and gorgeous! Get in quick!

Lhasa Apso X.

Maz and Jaz. 'We're just two little girls from Little Rock and we're looking for a better part of Town!' These little beauties are Gemini born during the year of The Tiger as was Marilyn Monroe. Puppies born 8th June 2022. Both parents are small Lhasa Apso cross breeds. I own both parents. They are good in health. First vaccine. Wormed every two weeks. M/chipped. As with most Gemini's good company and communications is a must, so homes where there is another dog for play and company would be ideal or at least home with company for the most part, loneliness is rarely agreeable and you may risk them barking away to themselves, skilful mental stimulation is the way. They have been brought up as both inside and outside pet and enjoy their breakfast and dinner every day, hopefully this philosophy can continue for them. 0435993811, texts or emails only, Thankyou.

The Ultimate Lhasa Apso Guide

About Lhasa Apso

The Lhasa Apso is an ancient breed that was originally kept as a watchdog and companion in Tibet. They tend to be smart, happy dogs with a natural wariness around strangers.

Origins

The Lhasa Apso takes its name from the holy city of Lhasa, in Tibet. This breed was specifically kept by nobles and monks to serve as a watchdog in temples and monasteries in the Himalayan Mountains.

The Dalai Lama of Tibet was known to send pairs of Lhasa Apsos to the Emperor of China as gifts – the dogs were so rare that receiving a pair like this was a great honour.

The Lhasa Apso was introduced into the world when Charles Suydam Cutting, one of the first Westerners allowed in the forbidden city of Lhasa, received a pair of Lhasa Apsos as a gift from the Dalai Lama at the time.

Today the Lhasa Apso is still relatively rare, but still dutifully serves its role of watchdog and companion for any family lucky enough to have one.

Key Characteristics Of Lhasa Apsos

Are Lhasa Apsos Family-Friendly?

Yes, Lhasa Apsos are very affectionate toward their owners and trusted friends, and do great with older children who can play with them properly.

Common Health Issues & Considerations

Lhasa Apsos may suffer from:

Cherry Eye

A condition where the gland of the third eyelid prolapses, becoming visible as a red, swollen mass in the corner of the eye.

Sebaceous Adenitis

An inflammatory skin disease that affects the sebaceous glands, causing hair loss, scaling, and sometimes secondary skin infections.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy

Nature / Temperament

Playful, Confident, Intelligent, Outgoing, Tenacious

Suitable Environment

Lhasa Apsos are companion dogs and fit well into any size of home, from apartments to palatial mansions. They tend to be relatively calm indoors and will rarely cause a disturbance compared to more intense breeds.

Most Lhasa Apso dogs get along with children who are well-behaved and respectful of the dog’s boundaries, so it makes a wonderful family dog for households with older kids.

Other Considerations

– The Lhasa Apso is widely considered to be hypoallergenic for most people.

– Lhasa Apsos tend to hold on to their puppy mindset for longer than other dogs, and may be slow to mature.

– Most Lhasa Apsos will be naturally protective of their territory due to their history as watchdogs.

How can I take good care of my Lhasa Apso?

Nutrition

Lhasa Apso puppies should always get a high-quality dog food. Since they are a small breed, it’s a good idea to give them small breed specific dog food that will provide them with the right proportion of nutrients.

Clean water should be made available at all times.

Since they are not very active dogs, watch out for weight gain as extra pounds can cause undue stress on their bodies.

You may consult with your vet about your dog’s diet and nutrition, if necessary.

Grooming

Lhasa Apso puppies and adults will need frequent brushing to keep their coats shiny and smooth.

Exercise

Most Lhasa Apsos are perfectly content to spend the entire day lounging in your lap. However, they still need regular exercise to stay healthy.

Give your Lhasa Apso a 15 to 20 minute walk twice a day so they get physical and mental stimulation.

Training

A Lhasa Apso can tend to be independent and stubborn, so training them early is key to teaching them how to behave. They are smart but need consistent training.

A Lhasa Apso puppy can start obedience training at 8 weeks old.

If you are having trouble training your Lhasa Apso puppy, you may enrol your dog in a training class. Ensure that the training methods are based on positive reinforcement.

This is general information and should not be relied on for adopting or purchasing advice.

Most Asked Lhasa Apso Questions

No, Lhasa Apso puppies are intended to live indoors with their owners. While their double coat may give them some protection from the elements, they are companion dogs and need to be around humans.

No, Lhasa Apsos do not tend to be aggressive, but they will be wary around other dogs and strangers until they are socialised and trained.

If you are searching for Lhasa Apso puppies for sale, we recommend that you adopt from reputable, ethical breeders. A Lhasa Apso for sale from a good breeder will have a better chance of growing up into a healthy, happy adult dog.

The average cost of a Lhasa Apso for sale will be between AUD $1500 and $3500.
