Toy Moodle – Newport

Hi, I recently lost my beloved pug after 8 years of love and devotion. She was gorgeous but very sick for a large percentage of her life. I really want another puppy to love but I can’t take on a sick one again as it took too much out of me with my pug. I hope you understand. The puppy would be given all the love in the world and treated to the best of everything. I would also like a puppy this time that doesn’t shed like pugs do as I’m an asthmatic and the fur caused me problems. I really would love a small dog again so I can pick her up like I always did my beautiful pug and my back will thank me for that too. I would prefer that the puppy did not grow over 3kgs so definitely a miniature or toy. I saw these photos recently on this website so I hope it's OK that I’ve “borrowed” them. The colour and looks are what I am looking for too – like a teddy bear - but happy to look at whatever someone has to offer if it fits my description. Above all the puppy MUST be in good health. A female would be great. No puppy farms - only from loving homes please. I am in Queensland but would drive if necessary to wherever you are. Thank you for your help.

Toy Moodle – Currans Hill

Puppies have been raised inside as part of our family. If you’re a dog lover who’s allergic to dogs, it can often feel like the universe is playing a sick joke on you. Thankfully, there is a good number of dogs that have hypoallergenic coats. These pups produce less dander than most dogs, allowing allergic humans to snuggle up with their pups without sneezing up a storm. But which hypoallergenic dog is best for you? Here, we look at the moodle, AKA the maltipoo. This cross between a Maltese and a poodle is a lively and energetic dog that is small enough to stay with single folks living in small apartments. Our puppies have had lots of socialisation, they love people and beautiful natures. All puppies have been thoroughly healthy check by a vet for healthy hearts, patellas, aligned jaw, teeth and clear eyes. They are microchipped, vaccinated and wormed 2,4,6,8 weeks. The Ultimate Toy Moodle Guide

About Toy Moodle

Also known as the Maltipoo, the Toy Moodle is a mix of the Maltese and Toy Poodle. This designer dog has become very popular over the last decade because it carries the best characteristics of its parent breeds.

Lifespan

Lifespan

12 to 16 years

Grooming

Grooming

The Toy Moodle may be low maintenance and a light shedder, but it still needs daily brushing to remove knots.

Origins

The Toy Moodle does not have a deep historical background. It was crossbred to create a hypoallergenic dog that has an excellent temperament and few genetic diseases.

Because it is a designer dog, it is not officially recognised by breed clubs. However, it is welcomed by the North American Maltipoo Club and Registry.

Key Characteristics Of Toy Moodles

Are Toy Moodles Family-Friendly?

Yes, they are. Toy Moodles are relaxed and happy around children and other pets. It is important, however, that parents advise their children not to play rough with these dogs because of their small size and fragile body.

Common Health Issues & Considerations

Toy Moodles may suffer from:

Eye discharge

Dental problems

Epilepsy

Patellar luxation

A condition where the kneecap moves out of its normal position in the groove of the thigh bone, causing lameness or an abnormal gait.

Portosystemic shunt of the liver

A condition where an abnormal blood vessel connection allows blood to bypass the liver, leading to reduced detoxification and potential systemic health problems.

Nature / Temperament

Intelligent, loving, relaxed, and placid

Suitable Environment

As long as it receives adequate exercise daily, the Toy Moodle will adapt well to both small apartments and large homes. A backyard is not essential.

Other Considerations

– While a small dog, the Toy Moodle can be vocal. It may bark at strangers, but it will never be aggressive. Luckily, this dog can be trained not to bark when unprovoked.

– This designer dog enjoys constant human companionship, so leaving it alone for a few hours can cause it to become sad. With early socialisation, this can be avoided.

– Bear in mind that the Toy Moodle can sometimes be sensitive to loud noises.

How can I take good care of my Toy Moodle?

Nutrition

It is recommended that you feed your Toy Moodle three times a day during its first year. Treats in between are okay but only during training. After its first year, it is suggested to feed it small meals twice a day.

This canine can be fed both wet and dry foods. It is advised to try giving it dry food at first because this can help keep its teeth healthy and strong. To soften the dry food and make it easier to swallow, add a little bit of water to it or mix some soft dog food to it.

If your canine is not very receptive to dry food, you can give it wet food. Bear in mind, though, that a dog diet that consists mainly of wet food may result in loose bowels.

To prevent your Toy Moodle from getting sick, it is suggested to avoid giving it these unhealthy and poisonous foods: raisins, chocolate, salt, onions, fruit seeds, coffee, soda, and tea.

Grooming

It is recommended to brush your Toy Moodle’s hair daily and take it to a professional groomer every month and a half.

Bathing is recommended every three to four weeks. Avoid bathing it frequently, as doing so may cause skin dryness.

Exercise

The Toy Moodle has a low-to-moderate energy level, so it does not need an excessive amount of exercise. Short walks daily and trips to the park regularly are enough to keep it happy and healthy.

It is recommended that you avoid allowing your dog to engage in any strenuous activity.

Training

What’s great about the Toy Moodle is that it is intelligent and non-dominant, making it easy to train. It won’t give you a hard time as long as you try to make the sessions positive and fun.

You can start training your canine when it is between eight to 12 weeks old. Housetraining usually takes three to six months to complete.

When training your dog, it is advised to observe its limits and have reasonable expectations. Always reward it for every job well done.

This is basic information, and it should not be used to make adoption or purchasing decisions. Be sure to consult an expert if you’d like to learn about the breed’s care and requirements.

Most Asked Toy Moodle Questions

Like both of its parents, the Toy Moodle is a small dog. Even as an adult, it still has a puppy-like appearance and features. It has short, floppy ears; a semi-long muzzle; and a nose that tends to get either darker or lighter depending on its sun exposure.

This dog’s coat usually comes in a variety of colours, including white, cream, silver, apricot, black, and brown. Some have markings, while others do not. Generally, the coat is soft, curly, and a little scruffy.

This hypoallergenic dog sheds little to no hair. It is second to Cavoodles when it comes to non-shedding crossbreeds.

While it is easy to find a Toy Moodle anywhere, it is always recommended to adopt from a responsible breeder. This way, you can be sure that the dog you bring home is happy and healthy.

A Toy Moodle for sale typically costs between AUD $3,500 to 6,500.
