● Bedlington Terriers are tenacious hunters. As they were originally bred for hunting, these instincts are still very strong.
● They tend to have extreme personalities. If well socialised and cared for, they will grow to become delightful companions. But when provoked or if their hunting instincts take over, they can be rather aggressive.
● Bedlington Terriers are not friendly towards other dogs or other pets. They are a dominant breed and prefer to be the only dog around.
● They are susceptible to copper toxicosis. The condition is characterised by storage of copper minerals in the liver. Ordinarily, these copper minerals ought to be metabolised. The result is that their livers fail, ultimately causing death.
● Bedlington Terriers come in different colour combinations. These include sandy, blue, blue and tan, liver, liver and tan. When they come in bi-colours, the tan spots are mostly on the legs, chest or under the tail.
● Contrary to most terrier breeds, the Bedlington’s coat should not be stripped.
