GERMAN SHORTHAIR POINTER PUP
Purebred
Lovely nature. No structural or temperament problems.
Very settled and has been taught some manners but hasn't bonded to us the breeder.
This pup is available because of a sale which didn't eventuate because we couldn't find a animal courier service who would take it to the required location.
The advantage of being an older pup ( nearly 4 months) is that he isn't chewy or as boisterous as a small pup.
He has grown up with both mum and dad.
In farm setting so very relaxed and comfortable pup.
We only want the best home and have rejected 2 offers for him so far.
We have a responsibility as micro breeders to ensure (as best we can) that he will be loved and cherished as do his parents.
I have slashed the price to $700 I'm of the opinion that if you can afford that you may run short of money on feed for him down the track.
I have included a photo of one of his full brothers as well as photos of his parents.
Ours love hunting but have sold pups which are quite happy as lap dogs.
Sorry can't upload as many photos as I would like
I can send more photos to your device on request.

The Ultimate German Shorthaired Pointer Guide
About German Shorthaired Pointer
German Shorthaired Pointers are versatile working dogs, suited to almost any role or task their owner asks of them. A German Shorthaired Pointer needs an active owner who will match them in terms of energy and drive.
Lifespan
12 to 15 years
Weight
45 to 70 pounds
Height
53 to 64 cm
Grooming
German Shorthaired Pointers are relatively low-maintenance dogs.
Regular brushing sessions will help to minimise the amount of shedding that they do, and will help keep their short coats smooth and shiny.
Origins
The German Shorthaired Pointer is descended from the German Bird Dog. German breeders wanted to create a dog that could do it all – and in many ways, they succeeded.
German royalty can be credited with popularising the breed, as Prince Albrecht zu Solms-Braunfels of the Royal House of Hanover was a fan of the German Shorthaired Pointer.
World War II affected the breeding of the German Shorthaired Pointer in Germany, but the breed continued to thrive in the U.S.
The German Shorthaired Pointer has slowly but steadily regained its standing as one of the premiere working breeds, and is popular now with active, high-energy owners who want to spend lots of time with their dogs.
Key Characteristics Of German Shorthaired Pointers
Are German Shorthaired Pointers Family-Friendly?
Yes, German Shorthaired Pointers tend to be gentle and affectionate with humans. They especially love being around and playing with children. They do well in households with older children.
Common Health Issues & Considerations
German Shorthaired Pointers may suffer from:
Hip and elbow dysplasia
Von Willebrand’s Disease
This is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency of von Willebrand factor, leading to prolonged bleeding and difficulty with blood clotting.
Gastric dilatation-volvulus
A life-threatening condition where the stomach fills with gas and twists in on itself
The German Shorthaired Pointer is not as large as some other working breeds, but needs a significant amount of free space in which to move. They thrive when they have enough space in which to exercise.
German Shorthaired Pointers also tend to bark loudly, which may make them unsuitable to apartment living with close neighbours.
Other Considerations
● German Shorthaired Pointers love the water, and are excellent swimmers due to their webbed feet.
● A German Shorthaired Pointer should get sufficient physical and mental stimulation, or they may become a skilled escape artist.
● Some German Shorthaired Pointers will retain a puppy-like demeanour well into their second year of life.
How can I take good care of my German Shorthaired Pointer?
Nutrition
German Shorthaired Pointer puppies should always be fed high-quality dog food. These are highly active dogs and will need lots of food to maintain their energy levels.
Clean water should be made available at all times.
Most German Shorthaired Pointer puppies will eat as much as you let them. It is a good idea to measure out their meals two to three times a day, taking away any food that they leave behind.
You may consult with your vet about your dog’s diet and nutrition, if necessary.
Grooming
Grooming a German Shorthaired Pointer does not take long, as their short coat only needs some brushing with a hound glove or soft-bristled brush two to three times a week.
Recommended Grooming Tips
German Shorthaired Pointers will tend to shed more twice a year, in which case they should be brushed daily.
Baths should only be done when needed, as bathing too often may strip their skin of protective oils.
German Shorthaired Pointer puppies should have their teeth brushed starting at an early age, so that they become accustomed to having it done regularly.
Exercise
German Shorthaired Pointers are very high-energy dogs, and will generally require moderate to high-intensity play and training.
Around an hour to an hour and a half of exercise each day is a good start for most German Shorthaired Pointers.
German Shorthaired Pointer puppies can start exercising outdoors as soon as they are cleared to do so by their veterinarian.
Training
One of the main goals when creating the German Shorthaired Pointer was to make a very trainable dog. Most German Shorthaired Pointers are eager to learn and take to training right away.
Like all other dog breeds, training is one of the most important ways that a German Shorthaired Pointer will receive mental and physical stimulation.
Basic obedience training should be the first step, and most German Shorthaired Pointer puppies can start almost as soon as they are brought home from a breeder.
It is also possible to enrol your German Shorthaired Pointer puppies in training classes if you want to strengthen your bond. Just ensure that the training methods being used are based on positive reinforcement.
This is general information and should not be relied on for adopting or purchasing advice.
If you are looking for German Shorthaired Pointer puppies for sale, we recommend that you adopt from ethical, responsible breeders. This helps ensure that the German
Shorthaired Pointer puppies you get will be well-bred and healthy. The average cost of a German Pointer for sale will be between AUD $1500 and $3000.
