As the new owner of a Blue Staffy dog, one of your main roles will be ensuring that your pup is well-fed. Without a doubt, their diet is an integral factor in their health. But, it can be challenging to figure out whether you’re feeding them the right way.

The easiest way to approach this is to consider your dog’s weight. As we saw earlier, Blue Staffies weigh between 13 and 17 kgs. This puts them in the medium-sized breed category.

As such, 1 to 2 cups of premium-quality dog food every day should work. If your dog weighs less, then you can reduce this to ¾ cup per day. Similarly, if your pup weighs more, then go for 2 cups a day.

Keep in mind that this breed is prone to skin allergies. To mitigate this risk, opt for grain-free dog foods.

Blue Stuffies are very energetic. So you’ll need to look for ways to keep them active. In an ideal setting, they should exercise for at least 1 hour every day. You can split this time into different activities with varying timeframes. For instance, you can take your dog for a swim in the morning, play fetch in the afternoon then walk him in the evening.

Another point to keep in mind is that they love to chew; they’ll put their teeth into anything they can get their paws on. Look for indestructible toys that can withstand your Staffy chewing on them nonstop.

Most Staffies also relish scent games. As such, you might want to look for a puzzle toy, which ends with you offering them tasty treats. While you’re at it, remember to Staffie-proof your yard. These dogs are excellent escape artists, and they’ll try to run off by either jumping or digging their way out.

Your Blue Staffy may be a superb face kisser. But not everyone will take kindly to your dog’s pulling, licking, and disorderly jumping. To avoid incidents where your pup gets misjudged, consider training him, and doing so as early as you can.

Luckily, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are an intelligent breed. This means they’ll pick up commands fast. For the best outcome, use positive, reward-based training. That is, reward your dog with treats whenever he gets something right. Look for healthy and enticing treats that will make your Staffy drool the minute he sets his eyes on them.
