This kitten has been raised with care and is growing into a confident, affectionate companion. He is active, curious, and enjoys both playtime and cuddles. I have been unwell, so listing has been delayed. Please contact 0413784017 for enquiries or more information.

Manx – Hornsby

Age: 3 Breed: Manx x Colour: pure white Desexed: yes Vaccines & worming: up to date Indoor cat: always Urgently need to rehome her due to ongoing conflict with my other cat. She has been with us for the last 2 weeks but has not settled, and they do not get along at all. Both are indoor cats, and it has become very stressful trying to keep them separated. She is a beautiful, calm cat who would do best as the only pet in the home. She enjoys quiet spaces and gentle attention. $500 ono. Looking for a caring, patient home. Contact me if you're interested.

Manx – Medina

Two female Manx kittens available. Grey and white is around 13 weeks old. Grey and orange is around 11 weeks old. They have not received any vaccinations yet, so this will need to be organised by their new owner. Manx – Lockyer Valley

Diaz is a beautiful 4 month old Manx cat. He’s very energetic, loving, and cuddly, with a playful personality and a strong bond with people. He loves cats and dogs as well as children, making him a great fit for a family home. He’s healthy, vaccinated, and wormed, just not desexed yet. He is currently indoors, but once desexed would suit a safe indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Diaz has been raised with care and enjoys attention, playtime, and companionship. Unfortunately, due to my working full time, I can't give him much time and he deserves a home with more time and interaction. Looking for a loving, committed home.

Grooming

The Manx cat is known for its plush, dense double coat. The double-layered coat consists of a soft, downy undercoat beneath a longer, coarse topcoat. This combination gives the Manx a rounded appearance and provides insulation.

Origins

The Manx breed originated on the Isle of Man, where they became notable due to their naturally occurring mutation that resulted in a shortened tail. This mutation was then perpetuated by the island’s isolated cat population, resulting in the breed we know today. The Manx cat was one of the first breeds recognized by newly organised cat registries in the late 19th century.

Key Characteristics Of Manxs

Are Manxs Family-Friendly?

Manx cats make wonderful family pets due to their balanced energy levels and affectionate nature.

Common Health Issues & Considerations

Manxs may suffer from:

Manx Syndrome

Arthritis

Hip dysplasia

Nature / Temperament

Affectionate, Intelligent, Active, Playful, Loyal

Suitable Environment

Despite their need for play and stimulation, Manx cats can adapt well to various living situations. They can thrive both in spacious homes with access to safe outdoor spaces and in apartment living.

Other Considerations

  • The most unique feature of Manx cats is undoubtedly their lack of tail. However, not all Manx cats are entirely tailless.
  • They have a round head, round eyes, and even a round rear end, which is emphasised by the lack of a tail.
  • Their powerful hind legs are longer than their front ones, giving them a distinctive hop-like gait.

How can I take good care of my Manx?

Nutrition

Manx cats require a diet high in quality protein, like all cats. Commercially prepared cat food or a professionally recommended homemade diet that fulfils their nutritional needs is ideal. Be mindful of portion sizes as they can be prone to obesity.

Grooming

Grooming a Manx is straightforward. Weekly brushing to remove loose hairs and distribute skin oils is sufficient. They are moderate shedders and may need more frequent brushing during seasonal changes.

Exercise

Toys that engage their hunting instincts, like feather wands or puzzle toys, are excellent choices. They also enjoy interactive play with their human companions, such as fetch or hide and seek. Given their active and intelligent nature, they need engaging and varied play experiences.

Training

Training a Manx is a rewarding experience due to their intelligence and eagerness to interact. Positive reinforcement techniques work well, and they can be taught simple tricks and commands.

This is general information and should not be relied on for adopting or purchasing advice.

Most Asked Manx Questions

Yes, Manx cats are sociable and generally get along well with other pets, including dogs.

Despite their lack of tail, which helps with balance, Manx cats are excellent jumpers. Their powerful hind legs aid them in making high jumps.

Finding a reputable Manx Cat breeder is the key to getting a healthy, well-behaved Manx kitten. Manx kittens for sale from ethical breeders have a much better chance of growing into calm, gentle adult cats. The average cost of a Manx Cat for sale is usually around AUD $500 to $1500.
