The House of Highland Daniel - A girls dream of having a dog that could go anywhere with her…gallop beside her horse, travel with, shop with, watch movies with, watch me put my makeup on, feed all the farm animals with & just be with her for her soul! Enter the Whippet. I have had whippets on and off since Childhood - having difficulty finding anyone who bred them a real challenge here in Western Australia - with the attributes I was looking for - strong deep chested bodies with lovely arched backs, calm yet keenly intelligent loveable types capable of not only running beside my horse and jumping on the back of a Ute but also being wonderfully behaved house dogs. I have been involved in breeding training and working many breeds of dogs my whole life - guided by a much loved family friend who was a retired eastern states dog judge, breeder & trainer Jack Smith. Now my partner fills those shoes & helps me - he is an extremely experienced Kelpie breeder & trainer. We also run boarding kennels & train hounds together. However the whippet is my heart dog - a truly amazing breed that you wont regret. My Whippets are and MUST demonstrate they can calmly & confidently be around machinery, stock, horses, unfamiliar people, and can go from camping, sitting in a crowed café to walking down a busy inner city main street going shopping with me - for me to ever consider using them to breed from. My Whippets are highy affectionate, extremely social and easy to train types. Whippets are renown for being exceptional with children/the infirm; their lifespan, lack of doggy odour and not needing any special grooming. They are easily kept happy with human company if regular walks are difficult to sitting on the tractor or farm ute beside you or just sleeping on the lounge...they are just fabulous at fitting in. They are also not known to be yappy or bark and my whippets (and their ancestors) also never known to be snappy. ♂️ - From a owner breeder perspective: A MALE whippet is exceptionally affectionate, loyal and more protective of the owner. I have found these traits are much more present in the male than the female. My Whippet Puppies are $2k-3,500k - Microchipped & Vaccinated, with access to my support for the entire life of the dog. I’m a Farm based breeder - I breed only for Friends & relatives or when I need to replace one. I most certainly am not a puppy farmer! When I do breed pups they are born and raised to 8-9wks of age in my home as part of my family before they leave the nursery & graduate to life in the outside heated puppy kennel and large run. My whippets also have a Facebook page that has information on parents grandparents etc etc and so puppy/whippet owners can connect & keep in touch via it and we also provide advice/support through it for people if they need it. The pups I breed are exceptional specimens & definitely not shy inverted types. I believe I was very lucky to have found my original Whippets that pass on all their robust qualities - along with an in addition to the standard whippet traits. My puppies are full of confident life, love and character and train really well - 80% toilet trained, quieten when verbally scolded and don't fret when removed for handling by the time they are ready to meet their new owners. New owners amazed at how the pups relax when held & turn to putty in their arms when they first meet them. Pups are also well socialised with other dogs of their family before going to their new homes and are not let go prior to 10weeks - but 12wks preferred. Remote Inspection/puppy viewing either by FaceTime, Messenger video calls - I am very happy to do - but must be by prior appointment only.
