Beautiful Alfalfa is super friendly, loves people, toys and afternoon naps on your lap! He's also used to dogs. Alfalfa is desexed and microchipped. He was bought as a present for our teenage daughter, however unfortunately Alfalfa isn't getting the attention he deserves - he's looking for a new attentive and caring owner, who wants to play with him and give him plenty of cuddles! We have a large cat scratcher tower, enclosed large kitty litter, water dispenser container and a lead available for purchase also - at a heavily discounted price of $150 for everything.

Mickie

***MICKIE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *** ***PLEASE NOTE - In keeping with our aim to protect our wildlife AND our cats and dogs, we only offer our kitties to INDOOR ONLY homes and our dogs to properties with DOG PROOF FENCING*** Please read our guidelines here before applying to adopt 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/notes/1444849889239166/ To apply to adopt please fill out the appropriate form: For this kitty https://form.jotform.co/91463029063858 If you have any questions we’re happy to help if you email: arcatd21@gmail.com ABOUT MICKIE Mickie is such a unique little boy. When he came to us at just 5 or 6 weeks old, he already behaved like an adult cat in many ways. He knew how to groom himself, knew how to use the litter tray and cover up his deposits. He even knew how to stand up to dogs, adults cats and people. Nothing scared him and the only thing different now, is that his rough survival days are over and he's worked out that he's a kitten and he now knows how to play like one. He must have been fending for himself for quite a while and his orphan, only-child status has stood him in good stead. Mickie is his own hero. So brave and independent. He'll happily play by himself and is always looking for that new toy but, he'd also love to have a playmate and is always trying to coax the adult cats into a game. He doesn't give up easily, so we'd really like to see him go to a home where he has a playmate. It can even be a puppy, another kitten or a playful adult. He'd love to spend time on a human lap too and purrs as soon as you touch him, making a lie of his pretense that he's way too busy to be fussed over. Mickie is a fun and easy to live with kitty. He's fine to be crated at night and never makes a fuss about being in his big crate so everyone else can get a good night's sleep. Mickie would fit into most family situations but, because he never had siblings or mum to teach him to play without unsheathing his claws, he would be best with older children who know how to use teasers to entertain him. He is learning not to rough play by trying it on with the older cats. If you're looking for an entertaining, smoochy boy kitten, Mickie would love to meet you. Age: DOB 18.07.2023 Breed: Domestic Short Hair Kid friendly: Yes, over 7 years Cat friendly: Yes Dog friendly: Holds his own and will be OK with cat friendly dogs. Bird friendly: untested House/Litter trained: Yes Estimated size as an adult: Medium Location: Millaa Millaa Microchip: 978142000037275 Mickie has been desexed, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and vaccinated twice.

Beautiful two year old girl needs loving home

Lovely affectionate little cat who has been staying with me since she was taken to a Canberra vet lost a few months ago and her owners were unable to take her back. She needs a stable, permanent home and would probably be best as an only cat as she has not gotten along with my two. She's also scared of dogs. I've had her desexed, vaccinated and wormed. If new owners wanted to contribute something to those vet costs (total $500+) that would be greatly appreciated but it's more important she finds the right forever home. All medical certificates provided. You are welcome to the litter tray & scoop and bowl she's been using if you'd like them. We're in Yass, but we could possibly get her to Canberra if genuinely interested in adopting her. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any queries.

Selling 2 Kittens – Ginger Boys / Urgent Home

Kittens for sale I am selling 2 kittens Gingers - Male (names are Biscoff & Lu Bu) They’re such loving and playful kitties. Biscoff is incredibly playful only likes lil cuddles here and there (Biscoff is the fluffy one) and Lu Bu loves getting cuddles, very affectionate and very playful. Biscoff loves his milk and biscuits, but he don’t seem to have interest in wet food at all I’ve tried many times and he simply doesn’t take a liking. However Lu Bu loves his milk but he doesn’t like biscuits or wet food, he’s been the hardest to get to eat cat food. Might come down to the brand I use but I always use the high end stuff, so for when we feed him we give him bits of chicken. They’re all potty trained as well. Please let me know if you’d like to take any of these cuties, they’re eager to start there journey

8 month old Basketball

Meet Basketball, affectionately known as Bball Basketball is about 8 months old, born in December We got him at 6 weeks old, severely underweight at only 300gs and nursed him back to health He is fully vaccinated, microchipped and de-sexed We treated him for ulcers in his eyes from which he has a scar that still remains in his right eye He is an active bundle of joy who loves to play and cuddle underneath blankets, he also hides under blankets when he’s scared We love him dearly but have to give him up as he doesn’t get along with our other cats I wish for him to go to a loving home with parents who have time in they’re day to play with him He would also do well with an older brother cat to keep him company and occupy time when no one is home If you are interested please contact me through messages We also spent a lot on his vet bills so if you are able to throw us some extra cash to cover just a fraction of them it would be greatly appreciated

Cat

As I write this I don’t have his paper work on me but he has all his micro chip etc - He is a great little cat however we have Frenchbulldogs and they really don’t get on with him he’s often frightened because of them so looking for a forever home for him, great with children, happy to roam around but definitely not a small dog kinda cat! It was wishful thinking so needing a home for him we don’t want to be paid just gift him. I have all his paper work and he’s just been worked and fleaed again.

Gorgeous 8-Month-old Brothers, Chubbs and Tiger in need of rehoming

Gorgeous 9-Month-old Brothers. They are the best of mates and have been inseparable since the day they were born! Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, and with a broken heart, I need to rehome them. They have to go together, I won't separate them. Tiger ( white and tabby ) He can be cautious and timid, but sooo loving once he's comfortable and secure. You will hear him when its dinner time!! His brother, Chubbs (Grey and white) He wants to know about and be in everything! He loves water and especially watching it go down the sink or sitting on the washing machine to watch through the lid lol Last pic is them at 3 weeks old - Always together! Both boys love a cuddle, Tiger is happy lying next to you, Chubbs is happy lying on you! They are inside cats. They go in the front yard supervised from time to time to check things out, but don't stay out for long. They have been with their mum whos 4 and our 16 year old cat and our dog since they were born and they all get along amazing! They are very protective, caring big cousins (thats them in the pic with their baby cousin we looked after) they just loved her as did she love them! They haven't been microchipped, desexed or vaccinated as yet, but have been worm and flea treated regularly and they are litter trained. They are very healthy and have had no issues since they were born, just thrived.. Having the 2 of them has been easier as they have each other to play or cuddle with if your at work or out. They have there brotherly muck around fights, but are never very far from each other! I just want them to be loved, cared for and safe. They have new bowls, beds and a litter tray that will go with them They are located in Mitcham and available now. Really need them rehomed asap unfortunately :( GENUINE enquiries ONLY.

The Ultimate Domestic Short Hair (DSH) Guide

About Domestic Short Hair (DSH)

True to its name, a Domestic Long Hair cat has long, flowing hair. The coat can be any length, but it is longer than that of a shorthair or medium hair cat. The domestic long hair is not a breed, but rather a catchall term for any cat with long fur that does not belong to any recognisable breed.

Grooming

Grooming

A Domestic Shorthair cat’s grooming needs are not as extensive as those of a long-haired cat breed. However, regular grooming is still important to keeping your house cat healthy and looking their best.

Origins

The term “domestic shorthair” (DSH) is used to describe cats that are not of a specific breed, but rather of mixed or unknown ancestry.

Because the Domestic Shorthair is a pseudo-breed, specimens of this landrace in a particular geographic region will have a specific type of body shape and size, though colouring may revert to a tabby cat pattern after a couple of generations.

This pseudo-breed is also often referred to as a house cat or alley cat (for feral specimens).

Key Characteristics Of Domestic Short Hair (DSH)s

Are Domestic Short Hair (DSH)s Family-Friendly?

Yes, Domestic Shorthairs are the most common house cats in the world, and despite their wide range of personalities, they tend to get along well with humans.

Common Health Issues & Considerations

Domestic Short Hair (DSH)s may suffer from:

Obesity

Diabetes

Heart Desease

Nature / Temperament

Social, Active and Athletic

Suitable Environment

The ideal environment for a Domestic Shorthair is a clean, comfortable home with plenty of space to roam and explore. While every cat is different, most will thrive in a loving home environment where they feel safe and secure. It is best if there are plenty of windows and natural light, as cats love to bask in the sun. There should also be a variety of hiding places, perches, and scratching posts for the cat to enjoy.

Other Considerations

● The physical appearance of the Domestic Long Hair cat will be influenced by the genetic pool of the geographic area where it lives.

● Domestic Long Hairs are perfect cats for hair donation, as their fur can be used to clean up oil spills.

● It is advisable to keep your Domestic Long Hair indoors, as they are adept hunters and can decimate the local wildlife population.

How can I take good care of my Domestic Short Hair (DSH)?

Nutrition

The nutritional needs of a Domestic Long Hair cat are largely the same as those of any other cat. Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that their diet must consist primarily of animal-based proteins. In the wild, cats eat small prey animals such as rodents or birds. Domestic Long Hair cats can eat a diet of commercial dry food or canned wet food, both of which should be high in animal protein.

Clean drinking water should be available at all times. Consult your veterinarian for more nutrition recommendations for your specific cat.

Grooming

Domestic Shorthairs are relatively low-maintenance when it comes to grooming. Weekly brushing is sufficient.

Exercise

A Domestic Shorthair cat is a medium sized cat and therefore needs a moderate amount of exercise. It is important to provide your Domestic Shorthair with opportunities to run, jump and play as this will help to keep them healthy and fit. A good way to provide your cat with exercise is to create an indoor obstacle course for them to enjoy. This can be simply done by placing some furniture around the room or by purchasing some cat toys that encourage physical activity. Be sure to also provide your Domestic Shorthair with plenty of opportunities to climb as this is another great way for them to stay active.

Training

A Domestic Shorthair does not require any special training. However, in general, all cats benefit from some form of socialisation and training in order to help them learn how to appropriately interact with humans and their environment. For Domestic Shorthairs, this may include things like learning how to use a litter box, being comfortable with being handled and groomed, and learning basic commands such as “sit” or “stay.” This is general information and should not be relied on for adopting or purchasing advice.

Most Asked Domestic Short Hair (DSH) Questions

The main difference between these two types of cats is their coat length. As their name suggests, Domestic Shorthair cats have shorter fur, while Domestic Long Hair cats have longer fur.

No. Due to the wide variety of Domestic Shorthair cat traits, one cannot definitively say that they are hypoallergenic. Individual cats may or may not produce less of the proteins that cause an allergic reaction.

If you are searching for Domestic Shorthair kittens for sale, it’s important to only deal with reputable breeders. Despite this not being a distinct breed, ethical treatment of the animals should still be paramount. The average cost of Domestic Shorthair kittens for sale will be between AUD $100 and $600. This is general information and should not be relied on as adoption or purchasing ad
