Nutrition
Catahoula Leopard Dogs need a rounded diet that includes proteins, fats, carbs, vitamins and minerals. Opting for commercial dog food designed for energetic breeds is a smart option. Look out for ingredients, with high animal protein content.
Grooming
Brush their coat weekly to remove loose hair and maintain skin health. They shed moderately, with increased shedding during seasonal changes.
Recommended Grooming Tips
Bathe them every few months or as needed. Over-bathing can strip natural oils from their skin.
Regularly check their ears for signs of infection and keep their eyes clean.
Brush their teeth several times a week to prevent dental issues.
Exercise
A minimum of one hour of vigorous exercise daily is essential. In hot weather, exercise should be done during cooler parts of the day to prevent overheating.
Training
Make sure to set and follow guidelines to avoid any behavior problems. It’s important for them to grasp where they stand in the familys hierarchy.
You might want to think about providing training or engaging in dog sports. Dogs thrive when they are involved in tasks that stimulate their minds and bodies.
