We were given this beautiful girl by a family friend who could no longer look after her, unfortunately now we are in the same position due to the size of our home and the amount of play time she needs.
She is double vaxxed, de wormed, vet checked and micro chipped. She was born on the 02/12/2022. She will be a wonderful family companion once she has gone to a puppy school and when she is toilet trained.

The Ultimate Pointer Guide
About Pointer
The Pointer, also commonly known as the English Pointer, is a powerful, graceful, and well-muscled breed known for its agility, keen nose, and remarkable hunting abilities.
Lifespan
12 to 15 years
Weight
20 to 34 kg
Height
61 to 69 cm
Grooming
Pointers have a short, dense coat that requires minimal grooming.
Origins
The Pointer’s lineage traces back to the 16th century, predominantly in England, where it was primarily bred for bird hunting. Its name is derived from its natural instinct to “point” at game with its body, a characteristic feature that is honed and refined in field trials even today.
Yes. Pointers are an excellent fit for active families. They are generally good with children, displaying patience and affection.
Common Health Issues & Considerations
Pointers may suffer from:
Hip Dysplasia
Progressive Retinal Atrophy
Epilepsy
Nature / Temperament
Intelligent, Diligent, Enthusiastic, Loyal, Active
Suitable Environment
Pointers are not suited to apartment living unless they can be guaranteed extensive daily exercise. A home with a large, securely fenced yard is ideal, where they can run and play to their heart’s content. Despite their love for the outdoors, Pointers are indoor dogs and should live inside with their human families.
Other Considerations
● Pointers are considered one of the earliest sporting breeds, with their history dating back several centuries.
● Their iconic “pointing” stance is an instinctual behaviour and usually doesn’t require training.
● Despite their English name, Pointers are believed to have originated from a diverse set of hunting dogs across Europe.
How can I take good care of my Pointer?
Nutrition
A balanced diet is crucial for a Pointer’s health. High-quality dog food, formulated to meet the needs of active dogs, is usually recommended. Meals should be appropriately portioned to prevent overeating and obesity. Avoid feeding ‘free choice’ and instead opt for scheduled feeding times.
Grooming
Although Pointers have a short, smooth coat, they do shed. Regular brushing helps to control shedding and keeps the coat healthy and shiny. Using a hound glove or a soft bristle brush once a week should be enough to remove loose hair and distribute skin oils that keep the coat glossy.
Recommended Grooming Tips
Pointers, like many breeds with floppy ears, can be prone to ear infections. It’s crucial to regularly check and clean their ears to prevent this.
Like all breeds, Pointers can suffer from gum disease or tooth decay if their dental hygiene isn’t maintained. Regular brushing of their teeth with a dog-specific toothpaste can help prevent these problems.
Pointers are active dogs and often wear down their nails naturally through exercise. However, you should still keep an eye on their nails and trim them if they get too long.
Exercise
Daily exercise is essential for a Pointer. They thrive on activities like jogging, swimming, and playing fetch. In addition to physical exercise, Pointers also need mental stimulation. This can be achieved through training sessions, puzzle toys, and interactive games.
Training
Pointers are intelligent and eager to please, which can make training a rewarding experience. Early socialisation and puppy training classes are recommended. As they grow, training can be advanced and diversified to cater to their active nature.
This is general information and should not be relied on for adopting or purchasing advice.
With proper training, a Pointer can be trusted off-leash. However, given their hunting background, it’s crucial to ensure a reliable recall before letting them off-leash in an unsecured area.
Yes, Pointers are generally patient and gentle with children. However, as with all breeds, it’s essential to teach children how to approach and touch dogs to prevent any biting or ear pulling from either party.
Finding a reputable Pointer breeder is the key to getting a healthy, well-behaved Pointer puppy. Pointer puppies for sale from an ethical breeder have a much better chance of growing into a calm, gentle adult dog. The average cost of a Pointer puppy for sale is usually around AUD $1200 to $2500.
