Akita - Lockyer Valley

$3,000

Very reluctant sale for personal reasons. I ask you respect my privacy and not ask about why I’m doing this. This has been very difficult to do.

Rehoming my 8 month old pure bred male American Akita. DOB 12/02/2025 He is NOT desexed.

While he exhibits some of the typical Akita traits owners of this breed have come to know very well - stubbornness, selective hearing, not the best recall - he is also unlike any other Akita I’ve ever come across.

This big goofy ball of floof has the most beautiful temperament. He is a very sweet, loving, playful boy. He has shown zero anxious behaviour around strangers, in fact quite the opposite, he thrives off of the attention and endless pats he gets when we go out. He has shown zero aggression towards any other animal, he’s quite the social butterfly. He loves nothing more than getting out and about and meeting new people and animals. He’s also quite partial to the pup cup at Bunnings on a weekend.

He mostly has manners at meal times. He will bound around like a clown while you prepare his food but as soon as you ask to sit he will. He will then sit and wait patiently until you give him a pat and say good boy. I do feed him separately to my other senior dog and have done since day one as I know she is highly protective of her food. So I’m unsure how he is with other dogs when it comes to his food

Walks well on his harness. He will pull slightly out of excitement when you first put his harness on but soon stops and will walk along side you. Also likes to go in the car.

He has grown up with my older children and my other senior dog so he has never been alone. For that I would prefer he go to a family that not only has another dog for him to play with but that has experience and knowledge of the Akita breed.

He prefers to be outside exploring but does like to come inside from time to time to chill on the lounge. Be warned. Breathing is not an option during these times. He thinks he’s a lap dog. But he will never jump on you unless you ask him to.

Secure fencing is necessary.

Gets regularly professionally groomed. He had a full deshed groom recently.

Gets monthly worming, flea and tick prevention tablets. His last dose was 15/10/25.

Up to date with vaccinations and has passed all vet checks with flying colours.

As already stated he is not desexed.
