We have a litter of 11 Maremma puppies born on 2 January, and they will be ready for their new homes around 2 March. The litter includes 8 boys and 3 girls, all looking for suitable homes.
Both parents are working livestock guardian dogs on our property, where they watch over our goat herd and chicken runs. They have excellent temperaments, calmly protecting the animals without chasing or playing with them. At the same time, they are very friendly family dogs and enjoy being around people.
Maremmas are large livestock guardian dogs known for their loyalty, intelligence and protective nature. Since having them on our property, we have not lost any livestock, which shows how effective they are in their role.
The breed was also famously recognised for protecting a penguin colony in Victoria, which inspired the film “Oddball.”
